Abstract

Of 82 cities monitoring national CPI, 55 experienced inflation and 27 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga (1.88 percent) and the highest deflation in Tual (1.55 percent). Palangka Raya and Sampit are ranked 13th and 11th highest cities of deflation at the national level.
  • Deflation in Palangka Raya (0.24 percent) was affected by a decline in the foodstuffs group price index (1.34 percent) as well as transportation, communication and financial services (1.31 percent).
  • Deflation in Sampit (0.26 percent) was affected by a decline in the transportation, communication and financial services group price index (1.64 percent) and food ingredients (0.30 percent).
  • Based on the two reference cities (Palangka Raya and Sampit), Kalimantan Tengah Province experienced deflation (0.25 percent), followed by the inflation rate of the calendar year (1.26 percent) and year-on-year inflation (2.63 percent).
  • The components of administered prices and volatile foods synergize in attracting deflation in Palangka Raya and Sampit.
